Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes, 67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer. - scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault: slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion list plus a privacy guard. - tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note (capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other pages get a Related Knowledge block. - Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

Augmented Triad
A staircase that keeps climbing after the last step.
The Chord
The augmented triad stretches the major triad instead of squeezing it. Take a major triad and raise the fifth a half step, and the chord becomes two stacked major thirds — a perfectly even division of the octave into three equal parts. On C the notes are C, E, and G♯. Because every interval inside it is identical, the chord has no obvious root; invert it and it simply becomes another augmented triad a third away.
That symmetry is the whole strange magic. With no perfect fifth to ground it and no unequal spacing to orient it, the augmented triad floats. It sounds lit from within yet somehow unstable, as if the ground beneath the brightness had quietly dissolved.
Structure
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Formula | 1 3 ♯5 |
| Notes (on C) | C E G♯ |
| Symbol | C+ (Caug) |
| Quality | Restless, dreamlike, symmetrical |
Character
The augmented triad is uncanny — bright but disoriented, luminous but unresolved. Composers use it for dream sequences, suspense, and moments of transformation precisely because it refuses to settle. It has the sweetness of major thirds and none of the stability, which gives it a shimmering, slightly anxious glow that can tip toward wonder or toward dread.
In Practice
The augmented triad most often appears as an altered dominant, its raised fifth heightening the pull toward resolution — think of the V+ that leans hungrily into a tonic. Because of its symmetry it also works as a pivot, sliding between distant keys with eerie ease. It threads through Romantic harmony, jazz, and the soundtracks of anything trying to make you feel a floor give way.
