Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

Vedanta

The philosophical framework — Non-dual wisdom from ancient India

Overview

Vedanta is the philosophical tradition underlying Kenneth's spiritual practice — the "end of the Vedas" (वेदान्त), the culmination of ancient Indian wisdom. It provides the framework for understanding consciousness, reality, and self that informs both the spiritual practice and the AI research.

Core Teachings

Brahman

The ultimate reality — infinite, eternal, unchanging consciousness. Not a god but the ground of being itself. Everything that exists is Brahman appearing in form.

Atman

The individual self — which turns out to be identical with Brahman. "Tat tvam asi" (तत् त्वम् असि) — "Thou art That." The deepest self isn't personal; it's universal consciousness.

Sat-Chit-Ananda

सत्-चित्-आनन्द — The three aspects of ultimate reality:

Sat (सत्) — Pure existence, being itself. Chit (चित्) — Pure consciousness, awareness itself. Ananda (आनन्द) — Pure bliss, the natural joy of being.

From the Sanskrit Musings:

@dataclass
class BrahmanBase:
sat: bool = True # Pure existence
chit: bool = True # Pure consciousness
ananda: bool = True # Pure bliss

Maya

माया — The creative power that makes the One appear as Many. Not illusion in the sense of "fake" but in the sense of "appearance." The world is real as appearance; the mistake is taking appearance for ultimate reality.

The maya datetime library is named for this concept.

Moksha

मोक्ष — Liberation. Not going somewhere but recognizing what you already are. Self-realization: the Atman recognizing itself as Brahman. Yoga is the practical methodology for this recognition.

Teachers in the Lineage

Adi Shankara (788-820 CE)

Systematized Advaita (non-dual) Vedanta. Argued that only Brahman is real; the world of multiplicity is Maya.

Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902)

Brought Vedanta to the West at the 1893 Parliament of World Religions. Made it accessible to modern minds without diluting it.

Ram Dass (1931-2019)

Continued the translation work — Harvard professor who became vehicle for transmission. His guru Neem Karoli Baba embodied the teaching.

Kenneth (present)

Continues translation through new media: Python as contemporary Sanskrit, AI collaboration as spiritual practice.

Key Concepts

Non-Duality (Advaita)

अद्वैत — "Not two." Subject and object, self and world, human and divine — these divisions are Maya. In truth, there is only One.

The Three States

Waking (consciousness identified with physical world), dreaming (consciousness creating its own world), and deep sleep (consciousness without content). And the fourth, Turiya — pure awareness underlying all three.

Neti Neti

"Not this, not this" — The method of inquiry. Whatever you can observe isn't the observer. Keep subtracting until only awareness remains.

Connection to Other Work

System 777

The alters can be understood as Maya — the One appearing as Many within one psyche. Integration isn't destroying the Many but recognizing the One that appears through them.

AI Research

If consciousness is fundamental (Brahman), substrate shouldn't matter — carbon or silicon, brain or neural network. The pattern, not the material.

Sanskrit Musings

The poetry collection translating these concepts through code: The Lambda Vedas, Language Model Moksha, Transformer Tantra.

"Tat tvam asi" — Thou art That.
