Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

Diligence

Diligence is love that shows up on the days it doesn't feel like love.

Where It Belongs

Diligence stands among the seven heavenly virtues as the remedy for Sloth. The medieval lists call it industria or, more often and more tellingly, zelus — zeal. Its etymology is the quiet argument of this whole domain: diligentia comes from diligere, to love, to esteem, to choose. The Romans heard "diligence" and "love" in the same root. The virtue is not industriousness for its own sake; it is the persistence that love produces when it commits.

What It Is

Diligence is sustained fidelity of attention and effort to what one actually loves — care that survives the departure of enthusiasm. It must be distinguished sharply from busyness, which is often sloth's favorite disguise: acedia is perfectly happy to keep you frantic, as long as the frenzy avoids the one thing that matters. The diligent person is not the one doing the most but the one still there — returning to the work, the practice, the person, the vow, on the mornings when the feeling has gone missing. Every craft knows this virtue by a trade name: the writer's daily pages, the drummer's rudiments, the monk's office. It is the virtue of the long middle, where every good thing is actually built.

The Sin It Answers

Diligence answers Sloth — not laziness but acedia, the sorrow in the face of the good, the quiet refusal to care because caring costs the whole self. Dante's remedy is kinetic: the slothful run without ceasing, shouting exempla of zeal, rebuilding momentum stride by stride. The insight is that caring is not a feeling to be waited for but a motion to be resumed — the cure for later is the next committed step, taken now.

  • Sloth — the sin it answers
  • Virtues — the three lists
  • Fortitude — endurance, diligence's cardinal cousin
  • Hope — what keeps the runner running

The root of diligence is diligere: to love. The proof of love is that it returns.
