Phase 1 of the codebase cleanup audit. All behavior-preserving:

- commentary.py (-1084 lines): delete the shadowed generate_chapter_overview
  (a duplicate def Python never bound) plus 7 shadowed/orphaned helper copies
  (get_chapter_type, get_theme & co.), the unreachable revelation1_commentary
  literal (data/verse_commentary/revelation.json covers all 20 Rev 1 verses),
  the uncalled escape_jinja2_syntax, and the unused HTTPException import.
- api.py: drop unused find_resource_by_slug import and 6 unreachable
  'Templates not initialized' guards (init runs at import time).
- server.py: delete the dead get_daily_verse copy (shadowed the import, zero
  callers) and its now-unused get_daily_verse/FEATURED_VERSES imports.
- static: delete 4 unreferenced JS files (app.js + 3 family-tree scripts, ~112KB).

939 tests pass.
