I was bummed out, at first, since I have the western bent of material success ending, and there was great material success in having such powerful hair. It took me a while to tie in her being controlled by the witch because of her powerful hair, and being freed from it to find her own worth as a person. It seemed a more advanced romance genre thing. I considered it might have been a dynamic opposite to the control/manipulation by the witch. Could that have been the ic change moment? As a viewer, I took Rapunzel as steadfast.
