Most insects as well. Bats are unique in their ability to change direction, perch, and avoid collisions, not to mention catching flies mid-air. These devices are very minimally actuated, as I understand it, so tons of ingenuity went into clever, complex mechanical engineering of the structures to create that level of life-like / fluid motion.", "group_id": 9523, "id": 1608950}, {"user_id": 4330, "stars": [], "topic_id": 40347, "date_created": 1310355462.3348279, "message": "Yeah, I've heard about the Sting Ray and seen the pics & video of the penguin. There's something I can't put my finger on that makes this one stand out... I think it's how lifelike its flight appears, and how well it glides. I'd like to see a good life-inspired Bat robot. They're incredibly nimble and far more precise than birds. But, given their appetites, I imagine this requires far more power to achieve. Bats aren't known for their ability to glide, after all.", "group_id": 9523, "id": 1609288}, {"user_id": 4330, "stars": [], "topic_id": 40347, "date_created": 1310356334.817987, "message": "Yeah, saw 3 in development.
