Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# Ace of Cups
> *The first drop, before it knew it could become a sea.*
---
## Imagery
A single chalice floats above an open, receptive palm that emerges from a cloud, offered as though the sky itself were making a gift. Five streams of water spill over the cup’s rim into a lily-strewn pool below, and a white dove descends, carrying a wafer marked with a cross toward the vessel. The letter W of the cup’s design is inverted, suggesting overflow, and the whole image trembles with a sense of grace arriving unbidden. Nothing here is earned; everything is given.
## Upright
The Ace of Cups is the wellspring — the pure, undifferentiated source of feeling before it takes any particular shape. It announces new love, spiritual opening, creative inspiration, and the sudden softening of a heart that had grown guarded. Where the [Ace of Wands](/knowledge/tarot/minor-arcana/ace-of-wands) ignites and the [Ace of Swords](/knowledge/tarot/minor-arcana/ace-of-swords) cuts, this Ace simply fills. It asks nothing of you but that you receive it, and the difficulty is often precisely that: to let yourself be given to, to trust the overflow rather than the drought.
## Reversed
Inverted, the cup spills its contents and cannot hold what it is offered. This is emotional blockage, a closed heart, love repressed or turned inward until it stagnates. It can mark the grief of a wellspring gone dry, or the self-protection that refuses grace because grace cannot be controlled. The invitation is still present; the vessel has simply turned away from it, and the water pools uselessly on the ground.
## Correspondence
| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| **Element** | Water, in its most primal and uncontained form. As the Ace, it is the Root of the Powers of Water — the seed of the entire suit, the source from which the Two through Ten unfold. |
## Archetype
Jung would recognize here the numinous encounter, the moment when something larger than the ego pours in from the Collective Unconscious. The dove and wafer name it as grace, but psychologically it is the sudden availability of feeling-value, the return of eros to a life that had gone arid. It is the anima’s first whisper, the waters of the unconscious rising to meet a parched conscious mind — a small annunciation on the long road of [Individuation](/knowledge/psychology/jungian/individuation).
## Mythological Echoes
The overflowing chalice is the Grail before the quest, the cauldron of Cerridwen brimming with transformation, the horn of plenty that never empties. It recalls the living water of countless traditions and the amrita of the Vedic gods. Across cultures the vessel that spills without draining marks the point where the divine feeds the human, an inexhaustible mercy.
## In Practice
When this card surfaces, something wants to be felt. Ask what you have been refusing to receive. Sit with the sensation of an open hand rather than a clenched one — the gift is already descending.
