kennethreitz ce93f429a2 Add Knowledge: the vault's reference shelf, crosslinked across the site
Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# Nephthys
**Domain**: Mourning, night, the dead, protection of the deceased
**Symbol**: The temple-basket-and-house hieroglyph of her name, the kite, funerary wings
---
## Overview
Nephthys is the goddess of the edges — of night, of grief, of the threshold between life and what comes after. Daughter of [Geb](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/geb) and [Nut](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/nut), sister and shadow to [Isis](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/isis), she is the quieter of the two mourning sisters, the one who keeps vigil in the dark while her brighter sibling works her magic. Her name means something like “Lady of the House,” though the house she truly tends is the tomb. She was married to [Set](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/set), the god of chaos, yet her loyalties ran to the murdered [Osiris](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/osiris), and in that divided position — bound to disorder, devoted to order — she found her particular grace.
She is rarely worshipped for her own power. Instead she is invoked for her presence: the one who stands at the head of the bier, wings outstretched, weeping the tears that make the grief bearable. Where Isis restores, Nephthys accompanies. She is the goddess you want beside you when nothing can be fixed and someone must simply stay.

## Key Myths
**The mourning of Osiris.** When [Set](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/set) murdered [Osiris](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/osiris), Nephthys abandoned her husband and joined [Isis](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/isis) in the long search for the scattered body. Together the two sisters became the great mourners of Egyptian religion — depicted as kites, their sharp cries the sound of lamentation itself. It is Nephthys who takes her place at the head of the coffin while Isis stands at the foot, the pair of them wrapping the dead in protective wings.
**The deception and Anubis.** In one account Nephthys, childless with Set, disguised herself as Isis and lay with Osiris, conceiving [Anubis](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/anubis). Fearing Set’s wrath, she abandoned the infant, and Isis found and raised him. The jackal-headed guardian of the dead thus belongs to both sisters — born of the goddess of night, fostered by the goddess of magic.
**Guardian of the coffin.** In the funerary texts Nephthys guards one of the four canopic jars and stands eternally over the sarcophagus. Her role is not to bring the dead back but to make certain they are never left alone in the dark.
