Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes, 67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer. - scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault: slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion list plus a privacy guard. - tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note (capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other pages get a Related Knowledge block. - Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

## The Protocol
The Six Fs are [Internal Family Systems](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems)' standard procedure for getting to know a protector — the on-ramp used in nearly every session, whether the part in question is a [manager](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/managers) or a [firefighter](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/firefighters). The sequence is deliberately unhurried, because protectors have usually spent a lifetime being fought, shamed, or ignored, and the protocol's real content is the experience of being treated differently.
**Find** the part — in, on, or around the body, or wherever it announces itself: a tightness in the chest, a voice, an image, an urge. A [trailhead](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/trailheads) usually supplies the starting point. **Focus** on it: turn attention toward the part and keep it there, instead of past it toward the day's business. **Flesh it out**: let it become specific — how close is it, what does it look or sound like, how old does it seem, how old does it think *you* are? Vague parts stay concepts; fleshed-out parts become someones.
Then the hinge: **Feel toward** — *how do you feel toward this part?* Everything pivots here, because the question is not about the part at all. It is a sonar ping for who is asking. If the answer is curiosity, openness, compassion — the signatures of [Self-Energy](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/self-energy) — then [Self](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/self-ifs) is present and the meeting can proceed. If the answer is annoyance, fear, contempt, or the urge to fix, a *second* part has blended and is glaring at the first one, and the work detours: ask that part to step back, as described in [Blending and Unblending](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/blending-and-unblending), and check again. The step repeats until something genuinely curious is doing the looking. This single question is the model's quality control, and skipping it is how parts work goes wrong — parts interrogating parts, wearing Self's name tag.

## Befriend and Fear
With Self established, **Befriend**: extend genuine interest in the part's own account of itself. How long has it done this job? What does it want you to know? What does it wish it could do instead? Does it know how old you are now? — protectors are routinely astonished to learn the child they guard grew up. Appreciation belongs here too, and it must be sincere; parts detect flattery instantly. Then **Fear**, the question that unlocks the whole architecture: *what are you afraid would happen if you stopped doing this?* The answer always points at an [exile](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/exiles) — the burden this protector has spent its existence containing. With that, the protector's extremity finally makes sense, and the way is open to ask its permission to go heal what it guards, which is the road to [Unburdening](/knowledge/psychology/internal-family-systems/unburdening).

The Six Fs formalize something System 777 arrived at through practice rather than protocol: you learn who someone inside is by asking them, respectfully, and believing the answer. The system also holds a case the protocol never imagined — Chastity, keeper of the sacred "no," was not found and befriended but *negotiated into being*, because "you need Chastity to make it home." Negotiation, run one step past befriending, turns out to reach all the way to creation.
