kennethreitz ce93f429a2 Add Knowledge: the vault's reference shelf, crosslinked across the site
Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# Justice · XI
> *The scales do not punish; they only refuse to lie.*
---
## Imagery
A crowned figure sits enthroned between two grey pillars, an upright double-edged sword raised in the right hand and a balanced pair of scales held level in the left. A red robe falls in heavy folds; a small white shoe peeks from beneath the hem, a reminder of the human consequence of every judgement. A purple veil hangs behind. The posture is frontal, symmetrical, unblinking. The sword points straight up, the scales hang perfectly even. Everything in the card insists on measure, clarity, and the cold impartial cut of truth that neither flatters nor forgives.
## Upright
Justice is truth, accountability, and the law of cause and effect made visible. Where the [Wheel of Fortune](/knowledge/tarot/major-arcana/wheel-of-fortune) turned by fate, Justice weighs by consequence — every action tallied, every choice bearing its fruit. Upright, the card counsels honesty, fairness, and the willingness to face facts squarely and accept responsibility. The sword is discernment; the scales are balance. To draw it is to be asked to see clearly and to act justly, and to trust that what has been set in motion will be weighed exactly.
## Reversed
Reversed, the scales tip. The card can mean injustice, dishonesty, or the evasion of accountability — the refusal to face one’s own part, the ledger left deliberately unbalanced. Inverted, it may also mean a self-judgement grown cruel and unfair, a conscience turned prosecutor, or consequences avoided now that will only compound later. It asks where truth is being bent and who is paying for the distortion.
## Correspondence
| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| **Sign** | Libra, cardinal air, the scales of the balanced sky. |
| **Hebrew letter** | Lamed: ל, the ox-goad that teaches and directs. |
| **Tree of Life path** | Path 22, joining Geburah to Tiphareth, severity to beauty. |
## Archetype
Justice embodies the moral function of the psyche — conscience as the inner tribunal that weighs the self against its own truth. In [Individuation](/knowledge/psychology/jungian/individuation) it marks the reckoning that cannot be evaded: the honest confrontation with what one has done and become. Jung understood that wholeness requires this weighing, the willingness to hold oneself to account without either self-flattery or self-condemnation. The sword cuts away illusion so the scales can register only what is real.
## Mythological Echoes
She is Ma’at of Egypt, whose feather weighs the heart of the dead against the truth; Themis and Justitia, the blindfolded goddesses of law; Athena casting the deciding vote. She echoes the karmic ledger of the East, in which every deed returns to its doer with perfect accuracy. The scene of judgement — the weighing of the soul — recurs wherever a culture believes the universe keeps an honest account.
## In Practice
When Justice appears, the reading turns toward truth, fairness, and consequence. Journalling prompt: what truth are you avoiding, and what would it cost to face it honestly? Where in your life are the scales genuinely balanced, and where have you been quietly weighting them in your own favour?
