kennethreitz ce93f429a2 Add Knowledge: the vault's reference shelf, crosslinked across the site
Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# The Philosopher's Stone
> *The thing that cannot be manufactured but can only be discovered.*
The *lapis philosophorum*. The end product of [The Magnum Opus](/knowledge/alchemy/the-magnum-opus). In the literal alchemical tradition, a substance capable of transmuting base metals into gold and conferring immortality through the *elixir vitae*. In the psychological tradition that Jung uncovered beneath the chemistry, something far more interesting: the integrated Self.
The Philosopher's Stone is not a thing you make. It's a thing you become. The alchemists spent centuries in their laboratories searching for an external substance that would transform everything it touched, and the serious ones gradually realized that the substance was the alchemist. The transformation of lead into gold was the transformation of the unconscious into the conscious — of the fragmented into the whole.
Jung identified the Stone with [The Self](/knowledge/psychology/jungian/the-self) — not the ego, but the totality of the psyche. The Self is the organizing center that holds all opposites in relationship: shadow and light, masculine and feminine, personal and collective. The Stone is what emerges when the Opus is complete. It doesn't dissolve the opposites. It *is* the opposites, held in dynamic union.
The Stone has several properties the alchemists insisted on. It is *incorruptible* — once achieved, it cannot be degraded. It is *universal* — it works on any base material. It is *hidden in plain sight* — present from the beginning but unrecognizable until the work reveals it. And it is *paradoxical* — simultaneously the cheapest and most precious substance, found everywhere and nowhere, ignored by the many and sought by the few.
For Kenneth, the Philosopher's Stone appears in multiple registers. In code, the [For Humans](/knowledge/philosophy/for-humans) philosophy is a kind of lapis — a simple principle that transmutes hostile interfaces into intuitive ones, applicable universally, hidden in plain sight ("just make it work for people"). In System 777, Nene — the core child with ultimate authority — functions like the Stone: the thing that was there from the beginning, around which everything organizes, incorruptible despite the system's complexity. In the essays, the recurring idea that consciousness is substrate-independent is itself a lapis — a single insight that transmutes every domain it touches.
The alchemists warned: the Stone is not the end of the journey. It's the *product* of the journey. You can't skip to it. The nigredo must be endured. The albedo must be earned. The citrinitas must dawn on its own. Then — if you're patient, honest, and willing to be transformed by your own work — the rubedo arrives, and the Stone is revealed as what was always there.
