Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# Black Tourmaline
> *A wall is only unkind to what should not enter.*
---
## The Stone
Black Tourmaline, known to mineralogists as schorl, grows in long striated columns of the deepest opaque black, their surfaces grooved with fine parallel lines like the ridges of a Doric pillar. It has no shine to seduce and no colour to admire — it is simply, emphatically dark, and that plainness is the point. Rubbed or warmed, it becomes electrically charged, drawing dust and small particles toward itself, a physical curiosity the old naturalists noted long before anyone spoke of energy.
Of all the protective stones, this is the one practitioners reach for first. It does not perform. It stands at the threshold and holds the line, and it has been doing so in the traditions of many cultures for a very long time.

## Properties
Black Tourmaline is the premier stone of protection and shielding, forming a boundary around its bearer that deflects hostility, ill intent, and psychic intrusion. Anchored at the [root](/knowledge/chakras/muladhara), it grounds as it guards, transmuting dense or fearful energy into something cleaner and returning the nervous system to steadiness. It is especially valued for shielding against the invisible static of the modern world and for protecting sensitive people who absorb too much of what surrounds them.
## In Practice
Black Tourmaline is placed at the corners of a room or by the front door to seal a space, set near screens and devices, and carried in a pocket as a personal ward through crowded or draining days. It works beautifully paired with a grounding partner. Unlike most stones it is best cleansed by burial in earth or salt rather than water, returning what it has gathered to the ground.
