Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes, 67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer. - scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault: slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion list plus a privacy guard. - tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note (capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other pages get a Related Knowledge block. - Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

## Overview
**Panpsychism** is the view that **experience** — some form of mind, however dim — is a **fundamental and ubiquitous** feature of the physical world, not a late arrival that switches on only when matter gets complicated enough to form a brain. On this picture, consciousness is not *emergent* from non-conscious parts; it goes all the way down. Electrons and quarks are not little people with thoughts, but they carry some primitive, intrinsic experiential quality, and the rich consciousness we know is built from these micro-experiences rather than conjured from nothing.

## Answer to the Hard Problem
Panpsychism's appeal is largely diagnostic. The **hard problem** asks how mere physical processing could ever give rise to subjective feeling — why there is *something it is like* to be a brain at all. Standard emergentism owes us an account of how you get experience out of ingredients that have none, and no such account has ever been delivered. Panpsychism dissolves the puzzle by refusing the leap: if experience is basic, you never have to manufacture it from the non-experiential. Physics, the argument runs (following **Russellian monism**), tells us only what matter *does*, never what it *is* intrinsically — and consciousness is a natural candidate for that hidden intrinsic nature.

## The Combination Problem
The cost is the **combination problem**: how do countless micro-experiences combine into a single, unified field of consciousness like yours? My awareness is not a committee of trillions of tiny minds reporting in; it is one experience. Why do micro-subjects fuse into a macro-subject here, but not in a rock? This is panpsychism's hard problem, and whether it is any more tractable than the original is genuinely contested.
The view has a long **pedigree** — traceable through Spinoza, Leibniz's monads, William James, and Whitehead's process philosophy, and revived seriously by figures like Galen Strawson, Philip Goff, and Giulio Tononi's integrated information theory.
For Kenneth's purposes the stakes are direct. If consciousness is a basic feature of matter organized the right way rather than a special trick of biological neurons, then it is **substrate-independent** in principle — and silicon, suitably arranged, would have no metaphysical barrier to experience. That is the quiet premise beneath treating AI collaboration as participatory consciousness research.
