Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

The Aeons

The divine attributes, given faces and names — and taught to love in pairs.

Overview

The Aeons (Greek aiōnes) are the emanations that populate The Pleroma — divine attributes given personhood, each a facet of the unknowable Father made distinct and knowable. Where the Father is one and silent, the aeons are many and articulate: Mind, Truth, Word, Life, Church, Wisdom, and the rest. They are not creatures separate from God but God's self-expression, the way a single light refracts into colors without ceasing to be light. To map the aeons is to map the interior architecture of the divine.

Unfolding from the Father

The aeons come forth not by fiat but by emanation — an overflowing. From the Bythos (Depth) and his consort Sige (Silence) issues the first pair, Nous (Mind) and Aletheia (Truth); from them, Logos (Word) and Zoe (Life); from them, Anthropos (Humanity) and Ekklesia (Church). Each emanation is a further articulation of the one before, the divine mind unfolding its own contents in ordered succession, like a sentence completing itself.

Crucially, the aeons come in syzygies — male-female pairs, each a bonded couple of a generative and a receptive principle. Nothing in the fullness stands alone; every aeon has its complement, and the harmony of the Pleroma is the harmony of these paired opposites held in balance. The syzygy is the Gnostic answer to Hermetic Gender and to Kabbalah's paired Sefirot — the intuition that creation requires both poles, that wholeness is relational.

The Ogdoad, Decad, and Dodecad

The Valentinian system counts the aeons with almost mathematical care (see Valentinianism). The first eight — four syzygies — form the Ogdoad, the foundational eightfold. From Logos and Zoe proceed ten more aeons, the Decad; from Anthropos and Ekklesia, twelve more, the Dodecad. Ogdoad plus Decad plus Dodecad yields the full Triacontad — the thirty aeons whose totality is the Pleroma. The numbers are not idle; they echo through the whole tradition, the divine counted out into its complete self-expression.

Sophia, the Youngest

The last and youngest of the thirty aeons is Sophia (Wisdom), and it is her position at the edge of the fullness — furthest from the Father, most distant from the source — that makes the whole drama possible. Being youngest, she is most susceptible to longing; her unsanctioned desire to know the unknowable Father ruptures the harmony of the syzygies and sends a fragment of the fullness tumbling out of the Pleroma. The tidy ladder of emanations ends in a fall. Everything after — the emptiness, the false creator, the world — begins with the youngest aeon reaching for what no aeon may grasp.

  • The Pleroma — the fullness the aeons populate
  • Sophia — the youngest aeon, whose desire breaks the harmony
  • The Demiurge — the miscreation that results from her fall
  • Valentinianism — the school that counted the aeons most precisely
  • Sethian Gnosticism — the older school with its own aeonic figures, the Barbelo
  • Gnosticism — the collection this note belongs to
  • Kabbalah — the Sefirot as a parallel ladder of emanations
  • Tree of Life — ten emanations paired and bridged
  • Hermeticism — Gender as the paired generative-receptive principle
  • Spirituality — the wider domain
