kennethreitz ce93f429a2 Add Knowledge: the vault's reference shelf, crosslinked across the site
Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

## Imagery
A skeleton in black armour rides a pale white horse across a field, carrying a black banner emblazoned with a white five-petalled rose. Beneath the hooves lie the fallen — a king already dead, a bishop pleading, a woman turned away, a child offering flowers in innocent welcome. None of rank or age is spared. In the distance, between two towers, the sun rises over the horizon, and a river winds toward it. For all its grimness the card points forward: the banner’s rose is life, the rising sun is renewal. This is Death as passage, not annihilation.
## Upright
Death is transformation through ending — the necessary clearing that makes new life possible. Almost never literal, it names the endings the psyche resists: the closing of a chapter, the death of an identity, the falling-away of what has finished its work. Where the [The Hanged Man](/knowledge/tarot/major-arcana/the-hanged-man) surrendered voluntarily, Death arrives as something no longer negotiable. Upright, it counsels acceptance of what must end, and trust in the rising sun beyond it. To draw it is to be told that a real ending has come, and that clinging will only prolong the pain of it.
## Reversed
Reversed, Death is resisted. The card can mean a transition stalled, a chapter one refuses to close, or a decay that festers because nothing is allowed to fully die. Inverted, it may reveal fear of change so great that life narrows to preservation, or a person haunted by an ending they will not grieve. The horse keeps riding regardless; the reversal is the drag of a hand that will not let go.

## Archetype
Death is the great transformer, the archetype of psychic death and rebirth that stands at the centre of every initiation. In [Individuation](/knowledge/psychology/jungian/individuation) it marks the dissolution of an outgrown self — the ego structure that must die for a truer one to emerge. Jung understood that the second half of life especially demands these deaths, and that the refusal to die to old identities is itself a kind of dying. The rose on the black banner is the promise that dissolution serves renewal.
## Mythological Echoes
The card echoes the dying-and-rising gods across the world — Osiris dismembered and made whole, Persephone descending and returning, the grain that must fall into the earth to bear. It is the pale rider of apocalypse, but also the psychopomp who ferries souls across the river to the far shore. See [Hades](/knowledge/mythology/greek-mythology/hades), lord of the unseen, who is not death itself but the keeper of the realm to which death is the door.
## In Practice
When Death appears, the reading turns toward ending, release, and the transformation that only endings permit. Journalling prompt: what in your life has already ended, though you keep tending its corpse? What new thing is waiting on the far side of a loss you have not yet agreed to?
