Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes, 67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer. - scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault: slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion list plus a privacy guard. - tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note (capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other pages get a Related Knowledge block. - Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

## Imagery
A man hangs upside down, suspended by one ankle from a living T-shaped tree that is still in leaf. His free leg crosses behind the bound one to form a figure four; his arms fold behind his back. Far from suffering, his face is serene, and a golden halo of light radiates from his head. His clothes are the red and blue of the human and the divine. There is no struggle in him, no attempt to right himself. The whole card is a paradox of willing surrender — a suspension entered on purpose, a stillness that is somehow luminous.
## Upright
The Hanged Man is surrender, reversal, and the wisdom that arrives only when striving stops. Where [Justice](/knowledge/tarot/major-arcana/justice) weighed and acted, the Hanged Man does the harder thing: he lets go, suspends the will, and consents to see from a wholly inverted angle. Upright, the card counsels patience, sacrifice freely given, and the deliberate release of control that opens a new perspective. To draw it is to be asked what you might understand if you stopped fighting the situation and hung, for a while, in its strange upside-down light.
## Reversed
Reversed, surrender becomes stalling. The card can mean a sacrifice made for show, a martyrdom clung to, or a life put needlessly on hold. Inverted, it may reveal the refusal to let go — gripping control long past the point where control still helps — or a suspension that has curdled into mere stagnation, waiting without the inner shift that makes waiting fruitful. It asks whether your stillness is transformation or avoidance.

## Archetype
The Hanged Man is the sacrificial suspension at the heart of transformation — the ego’s willing submission to the deeper process of [Individuation](/knowledge/psychology/jungian/individuation). Jung saw that real change cannot be forced; there is a moment when the conscious will must hang, defeated and consenting, so that something in the unconscious can reorder itself. The inversion is the point: only by hanging upside down does the man see the pattern that his upright striving concealed. It is the descent that precedes renewal.

## Mythological Echoes
He is Odin hanging nine nights on Yggdrasil, wounded and self-given, to win the runes; the shaman who dies in trance to be reborn with vision; the many gods who must be suspended, dismembered, or drowned before they rise. He echoes the crucified who redeems by hanging rather than by conquering. Every myth in which wisdom is bought only by surrender, and light comes only after a willing darkness, is telling his story.

## In Practice
When the Hanged Man appears, the reading turns toward surrender and the gift of a reversed perspective. Journalling prompt: what are you struggling to control that might resolve only if you let go? If you looked at this situation upside down, what would suddenly become obvious that your effort has been hiding?
