kennethreitz ce93f429a2 Add Knowledge: the vault's reference shelf, crosslinked across the site
Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# Charity
> *And the greatest of these is charity.*
---
## Where It Belongs
Charity is the only virtue that sits on two lists at once, and the tradition took the doubling as the point. Among the seven heavenly virtues it is the remedy for [Greed](/knowledge/virtues-and-vices/seven-deadly-sins/greed) — the open hand against the clenched one. Among the three theological virtues of 1 Corinthians 13 it stands last and greatest, beside [Faith](/knowledge/virtues-and-vices/virtues/faith) and [Hope](/knowledge/virtues-and-vices/virtues/hope): "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." Aquinas called it the form of all the virtues — the animating principle without which the others are technique. Medicine on one list, crown on the other: love is both how you heal and what you heal into.
## What It Is
The Greek is *agape*, the Latin *caritas* — love as willed benevolence rather than felt affection, the sustained intention of the other's good. Paul's chapter is a portrait, not a definition: patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, keeping no ledger of wrongs — a love described almost entirely by what it declines to do, because agape is affection with the self-interest burned off. It survives the absence of reward, which is what distinguishes it from every transaction that borrows its name. The English shrinkage of "charity" to almsgiving preserves one true thing: this love is known by what it releases.
## The Sin It Answers
As remedy, charity answers [Greed](/knowledge/virtues-and-vices/seven-deadly-sins/greed) — the hoard built against a threatening future. Giving is the one act avarice cannot metabolize; every open-handed gesture treats the future as trustworthy and the neighbor as kin, and the vault loses a brick. Dante's avaricious lie face-down, bound to the dust they clutched; charity is the posture reversed, face up, hands open.
## In the Theological Three
Aquinas taught that faith and hope are provisional — sight will retire faith, possession will retire hope — but charity persists into the end of things, because it *is* the end of things. Paul's Galatians harvest begins with it under its plainer name, love — see Fruits of the Spirit.
