Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes, 67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer. - scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault: slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion list plus a privacy guard. - tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note (capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other pages get a Related Knowledge block. - Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

## The Scale
The diminished scale is the whole tone scale's darker sibling: another symmetrical structure, but built from an alternating pattern of whole and half steps rather than uniform strides. Because that pattern repeats every minor third, the octave holds eight notes instead of seven — hence its other name, the octatonic scale. And because of that same repetition, there are only three distinct diminished scales in all of music; each one maps onto four diminished seventh chords stacked a minor third apart. The scale comes in two rotations depending on whether it begins with a whole step or a half step, and jazz musicians distinguish them by function: one fits diminished chords, the other fits dominants.

## Character
The diminished scale is all tension. Its symmetry, like the whole tone scale's, denies it a stable home, but where the whole tone scale floats, the diminished scale coils. The alternating half steps pack it with the kind of close-interval friction that wants to resolve in several directions at once, and the tritones buried inside it give every phrase a nervous, unresolved charge. It sounds ominous, unstable, mechanically precise — a scale that seems to be perpetually about to spring.

## In Practice
Jazz players prize it over dominant seventh chords, where it supplies a rich stack of tensions, and over diminished chords, where it belongs by definition. Its symmetry lets a single pattern be shifted up in minor thirds and still fit, which makes it a favourite for sequences and long, spiralling runs. In classical music, composers from Rimsky-Korsakov to Stravinsky used the octatonic collection to evoke the magical, the sinister, and the strange.
