kennethreitz ce93f429a2 Add Knowledge: the vault's reference shelf, crosslinked across the site
Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# Amun
**Domain**: The hidden, the air and wind, kingship; later the supreme creator
**Symbol**: The double-plumed crown, the ram, the goose, the color blue
---
## Overview
Amun is the god you cannot see. His name means “the Hidden One,” and that hiddenness is the whole of his nature — he is the unseen force behind the wind, the invisible presence that pervades all things, the god whose true form is by definition beyond depiction. He began as a local deity of Thebes and rose, over the centuries, to become the king of the gods, the supreme power of the Egyptian pantheon. Fused with the sun god as **Amun-Ra**, he combined the hidden and the manifest — the invisible breath and the blazing disk — into a single almost-monotheistic majesty.
His ascent mirrored Thebes’ own. As that city became the capital of empire, its god became the god of empire, and the wealth of a conquering nation poured into his temple at Karnak, the largest religious structure the ancient world ever raised. Amun is the god of established authority, of the priesthood that outlasted pharaohs, of the sacred order that legitimizes a throne. He is what you appeal to when you need the blessing of the highest power there is.

## Key Myths
**The hidden and the revealed.** Amun’s theologians made a virtue of his invisibility: because he could not be seen, he could be everywhere and everything. Merged with [Ra](/knowledge/mythology/egyptian-mythology/ra) as Amun-Ra, he became both the concealed source and the visible sun — the god who is at once beyond the world and shining in the middle of it. This paradox let him absorb the traits of nearly every other deity without losing his mystery.
**King of the gods at Thebes.** As Thebes rose to imperial dominance, Amun rose with it, presiding over the great triad of Thebes alongside his consort Mut and their son the moon-god Khonsu. His oracle conferred and confirmed kingship; pharaohs styled themselves his sons, and no reign was fully legitimate without his sanction.
**Karnak and the counterweight to the crown.** The priesthood of Amun grew so wealthy and so powerful that it rivaled the pharaoh himself — a temple-state within the state. When Akhenaten tried to erase Amun in favor of the sun-disk Aten, the old god survived the heresy and returned in force, outlasting the king who dared to unmake him.
