Publish the Obsidian vault's Knowledge folder as /knowledge (881 notes,
67 folders), with a Knowledge item in the nav and footer.

- scripts/import_knowledge.py regenerates data/knowledge from the vault:
slugged paths, folder notes as index pages, wikilinks resolved to site
links (or plain text), callouts, highlights, and Dataview tables
rendered statically. Personal notes are withheld via an exclusion
  list plus a privacy guard.
- tuftecms/core/knowledge.py builds a concept index from note titles and
aliases. First mentions on ordinary pages link to their Knowledge note
(capped, never in headings, code, links, or sidenotes); Knowledge pages
list related notes and where they're mentioned across the site; other
pages get a Related Knowledge block.
- Knowledge URLs join sitemap.xml (so the sweep test covers them), never
displace existing legacy slugs, list alphabetically, and mermaid
diagrams render client-side only on pages that have them.

# Nine of Pentacles
> *She built the garden herself, and the falcon returns to a hand that needs no one.*

## Imagery
A woman in an ornate gown stands amid a flourishing vineyard, ripe with grapes and nine golden pentacles. Upon her gloved left hand rests a hooded falcon, still and trained. Behind her the estate is orderly and abundant; in the lower corner a small snail crosses the earth, carrying its house with it. Her expression is serene, self-possessed, a little remote. Everything speaks of cultivated refinement won through her own discipline — a woman at ease in a domain she has made, enjoying its fruits in a solitude that reads not as loneliness but as sovereignty.
## Upright
The Nine of Pentacles is the card of earned abundance and gracious self-sufficiency — the enjoyment of material and inner refinement achieved through one's own effort. It speaks of independence, discipline rewarded, and the particular pleasure of a life cultivated to one's own taste. The hooded falcon is the key: wild instinct trained and mastered, appetite governed by will. Drawn upright it affirms the capacity to be complete in oneself, to take genuine delight in the fruits of one's labour, and to enjoy solitude without loneliness. It is the reward of the disciplined path, savoured alone in the garden.
## Reversed
Reversed, the garden loses its ease. The card can show self-sufficiency hardened into isolation, independence used as a wall, or a comfort that masks emptiness. It may point to living beyond one's means, to a refinement that is all surface, or to the falcon unhooded — instinct escaping its training, appetite off the leash. Sometimes it marks the person who has everything and enjoys none of it, or who mistakes financial independence for genuine self-possession.
## Correspondence
| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| **Element** | Earth. Astrological decan: Venus in Virgo. Golden Dawn title: the Lord of Material Gain — Venus's love of beauty and pleasure refined and disciplined through Virgo's careful cultivation. |
## Archetype
Here is the psyche that has done its work and can now inhabit itself. The hooded falcon is a precise image of integrated instinct — the wild energies of the unconscious not repressed but trained, returning willingly to the disciplined hand. Jung saw the goal of individuation as this self-possession, the capacity to stand alone without being cut off, whole rather than merely independent. The walled garden is a mandala of the cultivated soul, and the woman's serene solitude is the fruit of a long relationship with her own depths — a sovereignty echoing the crowned self-command of [The Empress](/knowledge/tarot/major-arcana/the-empress).
## Mythological Echoes
She recalls the enclosed garden of medieval symbolism, the hortus conclusus that figured the soul's sacred interior, and the goddesses of cultivated abundance from Demeter's grain to Pomona's orchards. The trained falcon evokes the noble arts of mastery over the wild, while the self-sufficient woman in her domain echoes the sovereign feminine of myth — Circe on her island, mistress of her own enchanted ground, wanting for nothing outside it.
## In Practice
When this card appears, take real pleasure in what you have built, and notice whether your independence is freedom or a fortress. Journal: what have I cultivated entirely through my own discipline, and can I enjoy it fully without either apology or isolation?
