The fact that Monocle has multiple... \"backends\"? is a little bit confusing. Perhaps someone who has used it to write portable asynchronous code can chime in and explain it. As far as I can tell though, you don't gain a lot, since if you're using twisted.web.client.getPage in a Monocle-decorated generator, you can't suddenly switch to Tornado! An asynchronous API provided by one library still won't run in the main loop of another.
